Guwahati: All cases of corruption under the Congress rule will be investigated if BJP comes to power in Assam, party president Amit Shah has said.
BJP will also initiate a CBI probe into all chit fund-related cases, Shah said.
“Being the Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi is largely answerable to the allegations of corruption. We will probe all corruption cases in Assam under the Congress government,” Assam Tribune quoted the BJP president as saying in a poll rally.
Shah was reacting to questions fielded by reporters about his party's decision to induct Himanta Biswa Sarma, given that the BJP had persistently targeted him as the most corrupt face of the Congress in the recent past.
He also reportedly accused the Congress of protecting the illegal migrants and throttling the pace of development in the state.
“Our aim goes beyond just forming a government in Assam. We have a vision for all-round development of Assam and will implement it,” he was quoted as saying.
Citing the BJP president, the report also said that the saffron party has vowed to implement the Assam Accord in its letter and spirit.
