Patna: Senior IAS officer and Patna Divisional Commissioner Anand Kishore has been appointed Chairman of beleaguered Bihar School Examination Board Chairman.
Kishore was appointed after the present incumbent Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh resigned in view of the Bihar toppers scam.
Kishore, considered as an upright officer takes over the charge at a time when BSEB is in the thick of a controversy arising out of toppers scam.
He will be holding the additional charge of Patna Divisional Commissioner till further order.
Besides Singh, the secretary of BSEB Hariharnath Jha too quit following the intermediate result controversy which brought huge disrepute to the state.
Singh, who was earlier summoned by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, was served upon a notice wherein he was asked to explain within 24 hours why he should not be removed from his post for ordering a judicial inquiry into the toppers’ scam without seeking permission of the state government.
The government had on Tuesday dissolved the probe body and ordered Bihar Police to conduct investigation.
Meanwhile, the SIT is conducting raids in search of Ruby Rai – one of the toppers of the BSEB – and appealed to her to appear before the investigating officer at the earliest.
The SIT also apprehended Shail Kumari, the principal of GA Intermediate College which was the centre for examination of students of Vishun Roy College.
