Patna: The authorities have seized Rs. 16.01 lakh unaccounted cash and 24,718 litre liquor during the past 24 hours in poll-bound Bihar, an official release said on Sunday.
West Champaran district logged highest seizure of unaccounted cash at Rs. 7.70 lakh followed by Rs. 4.53 lakh in Siwan district, Rs. 3 lakh in Purnia district and Rs. 78,000 in Vaishali district, the release issued by the office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said.
In addition, 24,718 litre illicit/foreign liquor has been seized from various parts of the state, it said.
Among cases lodged under enforcement of Model Code of Conduct (MCC), nine related to misuse of vehicles, while a dozen cases pertained to violation of loudspeaker act and three of illegal meeting/speech, the release said, adding that one case has lodged for inducement /gratification to electors and cash/kind distribution, while five others were related to others' category.
On law and order front, ten arms/weapons and 100 explosives and 8 cartridges have been seized, while 1079 licensed arms deposited and 183 licensed arms cancelled, it said, adding 6997 persons have been booked under preventive sections of the Cr. PC and 699 non-bailable warrants executed.
An amount of Rs. 15.55 lakh has been collected as fine during vehicle checking, the release added.
