New Delhi: Supporting the sedition case against former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju, former JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Wednesday condemned his remarks on Bihar and said that the case under the stringent law will make him "careful" in future.
Katju had said Pakistan can take Kashmir but it will also have to take Bihar. His remarks invited sharp reactions, especially from Bihar leaders including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, even as the judge clarified that he was only joking.
Justice Katju has been booked under sedition charge following a complaint by a JD(U) MLC againt his online post.
"It is a right course of action that some people have made a complaint against him under the Sedition Act so that he should be careful in future," the Rajya Sabha MP said in a statement.
"Such comments were not expected from a person who had served in responsible position in the judiciary. It is not the first time that he has spoken out of the context, but generally what he speaks and writes on different subjects are always ridiculous," Yadav said.
"How such a person had served for a long time in the judiciary and what kind of judgements he would have delivered," he wondered.
