Chapra: At least three persons drowned and five others were missing when a boat sank in the river Saryu after parts of a crane engaged in construction of a bridge on the river fell on it in Bihar's Saran district today.
The incident occurred near pillar no-46 when parts of the crane accidentally fell on the boat which was carrying labourers for construction of Chapra-Ara road bridge over the river, Superintendent of Police, Saran, Satbir Singh said.
He said bodies of three persons had been fished and search was on for five others.
Officials including SDPO, R C Karan, SDO, Sunil Kumar and others were camping at the spot to supervise search operation, Singh said.
