New Delhi: A senior police official on Sunday said that the chemical rubbed on AAP leader Soni Sori's face was not acid.
"Prima facie suggests the chemical thrown at AAP leader Soni Sori wasn't acid but a grease like substance to blacken her face," Baster ASP Vijay Pandey said.
Tribal activist and AAP's Lok Sabha candidate from Bastar, Soni Sori was attacked by bike-borne assailants in Maoist-hit Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday night with a dark coloured liquid, presumed to be acid.
Even though the substance did not disfigure her face, Sori suffered from a burning sensation after which she was rushed to a Geedam hospital.
Earlier, the police said that as per doctors' report, the alleged liquid seemed to be grease diluted with chemical.
Sori was further shifted to Jagdalpur hospital and has been kept under observation as she has complained of burning sensation in her face, the police official asserted.
