This picture of an IAS officer has gone viral on social media - know why

Raipur: A picture of a young IAS officer clicked while he was talking to the mother of a sick child in a hospital has gone viral on the social media.

The Chhattisgarh IAS officer is facing flak for he was shown in the photo standing and talking to the lady with his left foot resting on the steel rail of the hospital bed.

Dr Jagdish Sonkar, an IAS officer of the 2013 batch, was visiting a government hospital and talking to mothers of malnourished children at the facility when the incident happened.

Sonkar, sub-divisional magistrate of Ramanujganj in Balrampur district, has said the incident could have been avoided but hasn't expressed remorse so far.

“My action was unintentional and avoidable,” he told the Hindustan Times.
