Delhi Assembly polls 2015: Dera Sacha Sauda extends support to BJP
With most poll predictions giving the AAP an edge in the high-stakes battle for Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going all out to garner support and regain lost ground.
New Delhi: With most poll predictions giving the AAP an edge in the high-stakes battle for Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going all out to garner support and regain lost ground.
As part of the efforts, the BJP has managed to gain the backing of Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s Dera Sacha Sauda.
Based in Sirsa in Haryana, the Dera is believed to have over 20 lakh followers in Delhi. As per reports, the Dera will organise door-to-door campaign in Delhi to gather support for the BJP.
Pradeep Insa, head, political wing of Dera Sacha Sauda said, “The members and the voters in Delhi have decided to extend support to BJP.”
“When Haryana elections were held, support was extended just two days before elections, same is being done (now),” he added.
The development came after BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain met the Dera chief recently.
The BJP is keen to maintain the winning streak it gained after the massive landslide victory in the Lok Sabha polls.
The party has named former top cop Kiran Bedi as its chief ministerial candidate to take on AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal.
Delhi will go to polls on February 07 and results will be out on February 10.
