New Delhi: BJP on Sunday attacked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over his remarks on Delhi Police, saying the AAP leader's outburst on the city's security scenario was a mere "political skulduggery".
"A man like him, who has spent crores of city's tax- payers' money on his own advertisements, and in holding events in places outside Delhi, has no moral right to question anyone else's stand," Delhi BJP unit chief Satish Upadhyay alleged.
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of inauguration of the out-patient department of an underconstruction multi-specialty hospital in south Delhi's Kalkaji area.
In the wake of two shocking rape incidents, including that of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl in west Delhi, the Chief Minister yesterday condemned them, and said the Delhi Police had "completely failed" to provide safety to the citizens.
Kejriwal had also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to "either act himself" or give AAP government the authority over law and order in the capital.
"So, let him set his own house in order, and then blame the police or make a remark on the Prime Minister... All his statements on this issue, I can say, are mere political skulduggery," Upadhyay alleged.
"He should focus on running the affairs of the city and manage the health department, given the dengue outbreak the city is battling, rather than pointing fingers at others," BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri said at the function.
"PM sir, give control of Delhi police to del govt for one year. If situation does not improve, take it back...Seeking time to meet LG n PM to discuss women safety in Delhi," Kejriwal had tweeted yesterday.
Taking a grim view of the cases, he had said, "Repeated rape of minors is shameful and worrying. Delhi Police has completely failed to provide safety. What is the PM and his LG doing?"
