New Delhi: It was a scary Monday for residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region as strong tremors were felt in the region after a strong earthquake hit the Hindukush mountain ranges in Pakistan.

Th epicentre of the earthquake was in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region and its intensity is said to be 7.7 at the epicentre.


The epicentre is located at distance from 250 kms north of Peshawar.


People across Delhi and NCR – Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Faridabad – felt the quake in high intensity.


Monday being a working day, offices across the region were evacuated. People in residential areas also ran out of their homes in panic.


Those living in high-rise apartment blocks felt the quake the most.


The Delhi Metro also came to halt for few minutes.
