Delhi High Court pained over missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmed

Najeeb Ahmed went missing on October 15 following an on-campus scuffle allegedly with some members of ABVP the night before.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday said it was pained over the failure to trace missing Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) missing student Najeeb Ahmed.

The HC bench comprising of Justice GS Sistani and Justice Vinod Goel said, "If we imagine the worst, something has to be found out... We are pained that the missing person has not been found. We are only interested that he comes home and the mother gets her son back."

Ahmed's mother Fatima Nafees had filed a habeas corpus plea.

Before approaching the court, Nafees had met Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who had assured her of his intervention to find out the youth who has been untraceable since October 15.

Nafees and other family members urged the Home Minister to trace Najeeb, a student of School of Biotechnology in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and a native of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh.

Ahmed (27) went missing on October 15 following an on-campus scuffle allegedly with some members of ABVP the night before.

His mother claimed that she had spoken to Najeeb on the night of brawl and that she was sure that he did not leave the campus on his own.
