New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing rage over an event against Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi Police on Sunday cautioned India youth to stay away from indulgin in any anti-Indian activity.

"We highlighted Lashkar-e-Toiba chief Hafiz Saeed's tweet to educate Indian youth to stay away from anti-India slogans," Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi was quoted as saying by CNN IBN.

Delhi Police had also issued an alert through the official twitter handle of the Commissioner's office saying, "This is to alert and sensitise the student community in JNU and across the country. Do not get carried away by such seditious anti-national rhetoric. Abetment of any kind of anti-national activity is a punishable offence."

Backing Centre's move to slap sedition charges against JNU student union president Kanhaiya Kumar, Bassi reportedly said that initial enquiry suggests that he was involved in anti-India activities.

Earlier, Home Minister Rajnath Singh had said that government will not tolerate any anti-national activities in the country. "No one will be spared who raises anti-India slogans and tries to raise questions on national unity and integrity. Strict actions will be taken against them, who raised anti-India slogans at JNU," Rajnath was quoted as saying.
