Five-year-old girl falls into pit in Delhi, dies

New Delhi: Body of a five-year-old girl was found on Monday from a pit in southwest Delhi, said police.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon when a 5-year-old girl fell into the pit while playing in the park in Kishangarh area of Delhi. The pothole is said to be at least 5-6 feet deep.

"My child went with her friend to feed cow to a nearby place. Later, we were informed that she fell inside a pit while playing in the park. We were completely shocked," the father of the girl told ANI.

"DDA Authorities came and enquired about the incident. However, we have not been told about any compensation in this regard. We belong to a poor family," the father was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the parents of the girl have urged the investigating officer to take strict action against erring government officials for showing laxity and not taking care of the park properly, due to which the mishap took place.
