CBI has booked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's principal secretary Rajendra Kumar under charges of criminal conspiracy and criminal misconduct.

New Delhi: Senior IAS officer and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar, who finds himself in the middle of a political storm over graft, is a recipient of prime minister's award for excellence in public administration in 2007.

Kumar, who has been accused of forming companies and awarding them contracts for Delhi government works without tenders, is a 1989-batch IAS officer.

An alumnus of IIT Delhi in electrical engineering, Kumar was appointed the principal secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in February 2015.

He was also secretary to Kejriwal during his previous stint as chief minister in 2014. Kumar's previous postings include chairman-cum-managing director in Delhi Transco Limited, secretary-cum-commissioner, Delhi Transport Authority; secretary (health); commissioner (trade and taxes).

Kumar is considered close to Kejriwal since his days of anti-corruption stir.

CBI has booked Kumar under charges of criminal conspiracy and criminal misconduct.
