Delhi: BJP MP Mahiesh Girri, who was on an 'indefinite fast' a few metres away from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence, ended his hunger strike on Tuesday after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh joined him.

Rajnath urged Girri to end his hunger strike and offered him a glass of juice, which he drank to break his fast.

"I have come here to request Maheish Girri ji to end his fast," the Home Minister said, as per ANI.

On his part, the BJP MP said, "I challenged Kejriwal for debate, its been three days. He didn't turn up so it's their loss. I'm going to end my hunger strike."

The East Delhi MP went on a strike in front of Kejriwal's residence after Delhi CM demanded Girri's arrest in connection with the alleged murder of NDMC official MM Khan.

Khan, an estate officer of NDMC, was shot dead in Jamia Nagar on May 16, a day before he was scheduled to pass the final order on the lease terms of a hotel located on a property leased out by the civic body.

The owner of 'The Connaught', a four-star hotel, Ramesh Kakkar, and six others have been arrested in connection with the murder of Khan.

Yesterday, BJP MPs Subramanian Swamy and Manoj Tiwari and party general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya had lent weight to Girri's protest, who had vowed not to end his fast till the AAP chief 'apologises'.

Vijayvargiya had said that he had urged Rajnath Singh to order a probe into the case so that all the doubts were cleared.

The Home Minister is understood to have assured Girri of a impartial probe into the case.

Girri has also written to the Delhi Police Commissioner saying that he was ready to be questioned and face arrest if the probe demands so.

On the other hand, in a press conference yesterday, the AAP had alleged that Girri 'accompanied' Kakkar to the LG's office in connection with the hotel lease which was to be decided by Khan.

Showing the copy of a 'covering letter' purportedly written by Girri, Delhi AAP convenor Dilip Pandey had alleged that it was attached to the hotel owner Kakkar's letter to put pressure on Jung.

Khan's family has demanded that Girri's role be probed into the case for the sake of a fair investigation.

"Roles of all the individuals whose name have come up related to the case should be investigated. Even the Chief Minister has demanded just that," one of Khan's daughters had said.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal said it was improper on the part of the Home Minister to visit the protest site and that instead he should meet the family of Khan.
