New Delhi: While the debate over efficacy of Odd-Even phase-II is on, a woman in Delhi gave birth to a baby girl in a moving car and also got timely medical attention due to less traffic on the road.
As per a report in The Pioneer, on Tuesday evening, 26-year-old Tara Khan, who is a resident of Mustafabad, was on her way to Kasturba Gandhi hospital after her water broke. However, she delivered in the moving car.
“We never thought that she will give birth midway but thankfully even after her delivery, we reached hospital on time as there was no congestion on roads,” Dilshad Khan, Tara’s husband was quoted while thanking the car-rationing scheme.
“The scheme has saved my wife and daughter…who got medical aid on time and are undergoing treatment,” the report quoted him.
The area where the woman delivered the baby usually remains choked with traffic during evening hours.
The relatives of the woman said that on Tuesday evening there were no long queues of traffic which helped them reach hospital on time.
On reaching hospital, the woman was shifted to gynecology department and the newborn to medical observation.
The report further quoted a Delhi Traffic Police official stating, “It may be noted that northeast Delhi is said to witness one of the busiest roads in the Capital. On usual days, long tailbacks with traffic congestion have been witnessed and reported but on Tuesday, Odd-Even phase-II came as a rescue for the couple.”
