New Delhi: Safety inspection of Yellow Line's Jahangirpuri-Samaypur Badli section will be carried out on October 12-13, paving the way for the launch of the 4.4 km long Metro extension to Outer Delhi area.
The upcoming inspection comes over three months after trial runs began on this section, a part of Delhi Metro's Phase III expansion.
The extension would have three stations namely Badli, Rohini Sector 18 and Samaypur Badli. Currently Jahangirpuri is one of the terminal stations on this line, the other end of which runs till Gurgaon's Huda City Centre.
The section will cater to the residents of north Delhi areas such as Jahangirpuri, Samaypur, Badli, Transport Nagar, GT Karnal Road and parts of Rohini.
Upon operationalising post mandatory approvals, the length of the Yellow line would increase to 49 km.
"The ridership on this route in 2016 as per DPR is expected to be around 7,186 at Badli, 11,133 at Rohini Sector-18 and 10,262 at Samaypur Badli," a Metro official said.
