New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday raided four liquor stores in Mayur Vihar Phase II along with officers of the excise department.
Sisodia suspended the licence of one of the stores for violating terms of the licence. The store was sealed as well.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the inspection of the four shops was done on the complaints of residents of the area.
"During the inspection, we found that there were two shops running under one licence," Sisodia said.
Sisodia added that under L-12 licence, a departmental store can keep liquor in only 15 per cent of the space but in the said shop, 90 per cent of the space had liquor bottles.
"Alcohol is not banned in Delhi. But liquor mafia should not be under the impression that they can do anything because of their connections (with powerful people)," he said.
He warned liquor stores not to violate licence rules.
