New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday rejected two pleas seeking a CBI probe into the death of a constable who collapsed during an anti-rape protest here last year and the quashing of cases filed against eight protesters for vandalism.
Justice GP Mittal, pronouncing the judgment, observed that no grounds could be found for transfer of investigations from police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Mittal also refused to quash, at this stage, the first information report (FIR) filed against eight people accused of damaging public property near India Gate during the agitation. The petition seeking CBI probe in the incident was filed by a lawyer on his own initiative, while the other plea for dropping the cases was filed by the accused.
