New Delhi: If you haven't seen a Peregrine Falcon catch its prey, then you probably aren't aware of the value of the bird or why it's known as the fastest bird on Earth.

With its swift movement, precise timing and silent flight, the bird proves why it is so adept at being a predator.


Since a hunting bird will reach much greater speeds while diving to catch prey than when gliding, their velocity is of utmost importance and this is where the Peregrine Falcon tops the list.


With a velocity that can exceed 320 kmph, that is 200 mph, a Peregrine Falcon's agility knows no bounds. It has a keen eye (see the pic below) that can spot a prey a mile away.



 


Since these birds like to prey on smaller birds, its claws (as shown in the pic below) are literally designed to catch a prey with a single quick move.
