As many as 126 more candidates were on Wednesday recommended by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for appointments to various government services.

New Delhi: As many as 126 more candidates were on Wednesday recommended by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for appointments to various government services.

These candidates, who have cleared civil services examination 2014, results of which were declared on July 4, last year, were put on a reserved list.

 

"As sought by the Department of Personnel and Training, the Commission has now recommended 126 candidates which include 109 General, 15 Other Backward Class and two Scheduled Caste candidates to fill up the remaining posts based on the civil services examination, 2014," a press release issued by the UPSC said.

A total number of 1,236 candidates, including 590 in General category, 354 belonging to OBC, 194 from Scheduled Caste and 98 from Scheduled Tribe, were recommended for appointment to various central government services against 1,364 vacancies.

There were 254 candidates in the waiting list kept reserved by the UPSC then.

 

The civil services examination is conducted by the UPSC annually in three stages - preliminary, mains and interview - to select candidates for the elite Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
