Vadodara: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed aids and assistive devices to Divyangjans under the ADIP scheme at Vadodara Samajik Adhikarita Camp.
The event is organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities [Divyangjan], Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Gujarat Governor O.P. Kohli, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Nitin Patel, Speaker of Gujarat State Assembly Ramanlal Vora and other state dignitaries were also present at the occasion.
In the 169th Mega ADIP Camp more than 10,000 pre-identified Divyangjan beneficiaries will be benefitted with contemporary aids and assistive devices by ALIMCO, E-Card of Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme of National Trust and Loan and Skill Training certificates issued by the NHFDC.
The aids and assistive devices and other facilities amounting approx Rs. 9.26 crore will be distributed in this camp.
The main objective of the scheme is to provide latest and modern aids manufactured by various agencies such as National Institutes, Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India [ALIMCO], District Disability Rehabilitation Centres, State Handicapped Development Corporations, other local bodies and NGOs.
These aids are being given to the Divyangjans to promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation.
In the camp, 300 beneficiaries of the National Trust will be felicitated mostly with Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme in which insurance of Rs. 1.0 lakh is given for the welfare of those suffering from autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple disabilities.Besides, Disha and Vikaas Day Care Centres beneficiaries will also be present.
PM Modi, who reached Vadodara today, is on a daylong visit and will also be inaugurating newly built and refurbished international terminal at the Vadodara airport later in the day.
