And headache is one of the most common symptoms experienced by people with brain tumours, although there are many causes and types of headaches.

If you have this persistent headache, make sure that it's not a brain tumour. A brain tumor is a mass or growth of abnormal cells in the brain. People with a brain tumour may experience the following signs and symptoms:

  • Headaches - which may be severe and worsen with activity, in the early morning or that gradually become frequent
  • Seizures (fits)
  • Persistent nausea, vomiting and drowsiness
  • Fatigue
  • Mental or behavioural changes, such as memory problems or changes in personality
  • Hearing problems
  • Vision problems
  • Speech difficulties
  • Loss of balance
  • Progressive weakness or paralysis on one side of the body

You should see a doctor if you have persistent symptoms of a brain tumour. Although brain tumours tend to be more common in older adults, it can affect people of any age, including children.
