Beatles fans in Mexico city joined millions of people around the world who are mourning the death of George Harrison. Almost immediately after Harrison's death was announced Mexican radio stations replaced regular programming with music of the guitarist from the famous quartet. Flowers and notes were left near Harrison's pictures, others came armed with guitars and strumming "Something", "Give Me Love" and of course "My sweet Lord", a song which hold special meaning for Mexicans. In London, a medley of Beatles songs was played during the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and Queen Elizabeth II said Harrison's passing was ''very sad.'' Fans of George Harrison gathered outside London's famous Abbey Road studio to pay tribute to the former Beatle with a candle-lit vigil on Friday evening. Dozens laid floral tributes and handwritten messages on railings outside the Beatles' old recording studio. Others sat in silence across the road, as Beatles music was played out on loudspeakers.
New York
In New York's Central Park, the Strawberry Fields memorial originally dedicated to John Lennon drew visitors who placed notes of remembrance to Harrison alongside those for his fellow musician.
