Sivaganga: A 25-year-old woman succumbed to dengue after being admitted to the Government hospital here one week ago, Hospital officials said Saturday.

They said the woman went into coma last evening and died.


Tamil Nadu State secretary of the Government doctors association P Balakrishnan said government should act strongly against quacks who, he claimed, were mainly responsible for the condition of the patients, suffering from dengue and chikungunya, getting worse.


Meanwhile, a government association source here said 25 quacks had been arrested throughout the state in a crackdown. Police said cases had been registered against them under IPC section 420 (cheating) and Indian Medical Council Act.
