New Delhi: Who doesn't like chocolates? Everyone loves to satisfy their sweet tooth with a delicious bar of chocolate. Although, everyone loves to indulge in chocobars once in a while, but do you know it can harm you too? Like excess of everything is bad, let's take a look at some harmful effects of chocolates, which you must know.
Here are some side effects of chocolates:
Weight gain: Watch out while you eat chocolates because it contains a lot of calories which will lead to weight gain. Milk chocolate has 152 calories per ounce, while dark chocolate has around 170 calories per ounce. The regular-sized chocolate bar is 1.5 ounces, so consuming the whole bar means taking 228 to 255 calories. Added sugar in the chocolate contains extra calories that are stored as fat in the body.
Heart disease: Excessive consumption of chocolates may promote weight gain which will increase the risk of heart disease. The additional sugar in it also contains lots of calories which results in heart ailment. When you eat a bar of chocolate, try walking for at least 30 minutes to burn those extra calories.
Diabetes: As chocolate is very sweet and contains added sugar or refined carbohydrates that can cause spikes in blood sugar and make the body resistant to insulin over time which may lead to Type 2 diabetes.
Cavities: Eating too much of chocolates means regular visits to the dentist. The excess sugar in chocolates will lead to risk of tooth decay and cavities. So, save your teeth from cavities by consuming less of chocolates.
