New Delhi: Do you have the habit of putting extra salt in your food? If yes, then stop doing so as consuming too much of salt is not good for health. Salt give taste to our food and also helps our digestive system to absorb nutrients, but there is a limit to intake it. Although, we need significant intake of sodium daily but high in take of salt can lead to adverse side effects.


Here are some side effects of consuming too much salt:


High Blood Pressure


Too much intake of salt in our diet is not good for health as it increases the risk of developing diseases like high blood pressure and stress. If you have high blood pressure then reduce the intake of salt in your diet as doing so you can reduce the chances of developing heart diseases.


Heart disease


It is said that excessive intake of salt increases the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. So, one should reduce consumption of salt if you want a healthy heart.


Dehydration


Do you often feel that you are dehydrated? If yes, then you are consuming too much salt. High intake of salt in your diet can cause dehydration. One should reduce salt intake and drink lots of water daily to avoid dehydration.


Water retention


Consuming too of salt increases the risk of developing water retention also known as fluid retention which occurs when there is excess fluid in our body, including the skin. Its symptoms are swelling in the hands, ankles and feet and a feeling of stiffness or aching. But one can get relieve from endema if you reduces the intake of salt and also by drinking lots of water.
