New Delhi: An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor Rakesh Kumar was allegedly thrashed by the members of BJP during a meeting of MCD workers at the Ramleela Maidan here on Thursday.
According to reports, Rakesh Kumar, a Dalit, was beaten up for wearing his party cap during the meeting.
The incident was also caught on camera.
A BJP councillor identified as Neeraj Gupta allegedly slapped Rakesh Kumar during the joint session. The BJP councillor had asked Rakesh to remove the cap but he refused after which the chaos happened.
The video of some BJP councillors attacking Rakesh has now become viral on the social networking sites.
However, a BJP leader has alleged that AAP councillor Rakesh Kumar used abusive language.
Thereafter, a scuffle took place between the councillors of both the parties.
Reacting to the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has criticised the BJP and called it 'a party of gundas.'
Several AAP leaders have also come down heavily on the BJP and demanded action against those guilty in the entire episode.
