After Iran, will Pakistan quit its nuclear weapons program?

Tehran: Days after Iran agreed to quit its controversial nuclear program, all eyes are now on Pakistan, which continues to expand its arsenal of lethal nuclear weapons.

Pakistan’s nuclear program has created a bleak security environment in South Asia, threatening peace and stability of the region.

Pakistan, the Islamic world’s only nuclear-weapons state, is also one of the world’s eight declared nuclear powers.

In view of several terrorist outfits operating from its soil and carrying out out attacks on all of its neighbours - India, Afghanistan, Iran – the Islamic nation poses a much bigger threat to the world than Iran.

Although Pakistan maintains that its nuclear weapons are well-guarded, there are concerns that the Taliban and other militants may one day seize control of its nuclear arsenals – triggering a bigger debate – will Pakistan take lessons from Iran and abandon its nuke program?
