A traffic police officer in Bhopal has become the latest person in a long list of well-wishers to offer a kidney to their “dear leader”.

“Sushma ji is a good leader and we need her to be well and that is why I offered my kidney. My blood group also matches,” said Gaurav Dangi, a traffic police officer in Bhopal.

Sushma is undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Delhi. She was admitted to AIIMS on November 7.

Responding to the huge support from her fans, the union minister twitted, “With your good wishes and Lord Krishna's blessings, I will be able to come out of this situation.

“Some friends have also offered their kidneys for my transplant. I have no words to express my deep sense of gratitude towards them.

“My heartfelt thanks for your kind words and good wishes.

“I am in AIIMS because of kidney failure. Presently, I am on dialysis. I am undergoing tests for a Kidney transplant. Lord Krishna will bless.”

On Wednesday, the doctors at the AIIMS said her condition is stable.

Her history of chronic diabetes has affected her kidney functioning. She is on dialysis, the doctors said.

She has been suffering from diabetes for around 20 years.
