'Anti-national' sloganeering will not be tolerated: Radha Mohan Singh

Indicating Centre's firm stand on the JNU row, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh today said that the 'anti-national' sloganeering by anyone would not be tolerated.

Patna: Indicating Centre's firm stand on the JNU row, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh today said that the 'anti-national' sloganeering by anyone would not be tolerated.

"It is clear to one and all that 'anti-national' slogans that were raised in the JNU campus last week...We'll not tolerate such things," he told reporters on the sidelines of the 16th foundation day celebrations of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), Eastern Region.

Claiming that raising 'anti-national' slogans by anyone comes under the ambit of seditious activities, Singh said that such activities would not be tolerated.

On the JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar's arrest on sedition charge, the minister said that no one could be held guilty till completion of trial by the court.

Without taking the name of Kumar, a native of Bihar's Begusarai district, Singh said that organizing an event at which 'anti-national slogans' were raised also amounted to commission of seditious activities.

Singh also flayed those who are justifying students who raised 'anti-national' slogans on the grounds of freedom of speech and expression saying that one must also take note of a case in

Pakistan where a fan of the Indian batsman Virat Kohli was sentenced to ten years imprisonment for hoisting India's flag atop his house in admiration of Kohli.
