Mathura: The Indian Railways has conducted the second trial run for high-speed Talgo trains of Spain on the Palwal-Mathura section of the North-Central Railway.

Breaking the record of the country's first semi-high speed train Gatimaan Express between Delhi and Agra which can run at a maximum speed of 160 kmph, Talgo train clocked a maximum speed of 180 km per hour on Wednesday.


According to the Hindustan Times, the distance of 84 km was covered in only 38 minutes. At present, it takes more than 90 minutes to cover the distance.


 


The speed of 180 kmph attained by Talgo is the maximum reached by any train on Indian tracks.


 


The trials were conducted with empty coaches. In the coming days, trials will take place with sand bags filling the passenger sitting spaces.


 


Talgo is a Madrid-based Spanish leading manufacturer of semi-high speed (160-250 kmph) and high-speed (350 kmph) passenger trains, which are energy-efficient.
