Kharge, who was speaking on Lalitgate, reiterated Rahul Gandhi's remarks when he said that Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj had clearly backed Lalit Modi to win economic favours.

In a retort to Kharge, BJP MP from Aligarh Satish Gautam counter-attacked the Congress, suggesting Lalit Modi had paid money to Sonia Gandhi's sister.

"Rahul ki mausi ko kitna paisa mila tha Lalit Modi se (How much money did Rahul's aunt receive from Lalit Modi?)," Gautam asked.

Gautam's remarks appeared to be in response to Rahul Gandhi's direct attack on Swaraj last week when he had said, “Sushma ji`s family has received money from Lalit Modi. She should tell the nation exactly how much money Lalit Modi has paid her family to keep himself out of jail?”

Gautam's remarks angered Congress president Sonia Gandhi who in a rare move, joined other party members and rushed into the Well of the house to protest against the remark.

With the uproar continuing, Speaker Sumitra Mhajan adjourned the House for about an hour.
