New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday filed an application in the Delhi High Court seeking to quash the defamation case filed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley against him.
According to the reports, the statement filed by CM Kejriwal alleged that the defamation suit filed by Jaitley had no truth in it and was completely baseless.
As per the reports, Kejriwal sought three weeks time from the court to file a reply on the matter brought on the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) corruption matter. The court has set the next hearing in the case on March 15, 2016.
Last year in December, Arun Jaitley filed criminal and civil defamation suits in city court and Delhi High Court respectively against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and five other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders for allegedly defaming him and sought Rs 10 crore as damage.
In 2015, Kejriwal had alleged gross financial irregularities worth crores during Jaitley's tenure as DDCA chief and also accused the latter of shielding DDCA for over 15 years.
