New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Centre to consider the suggestions by an NGO to incorporate in curriculum the study material highlighting ill-effects of alcohol and drugs among children.
The social justice bench of justices M B Lokur and U U Lalit asked Additional Solicitor General Pinky Anand to mull over the suggestion submitted by NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan.
The counsel appearing for the NGO told the apex court that "alarming" spurt in the use of drugs and among children in India and there was an urgent need to educate them on the issue.
The ASG assured the bench that she would look into the issue and apprise it after taking instructions from the government.
The matter is listed for next hearing on February 26.
The bench was hearing a PIL filed by NGO 'Bachpan Bachao Aandolan (BBA)' on the large number of missing children across the country.
