New Delhi: In a welcome news, the Supreme Court on Wednesday approved the Central government's guidelines to protect Good Samaritans, who help road accident victims, from any kind of harassment.
The Centre's guidelines basically deal with road safety and also extend protection for the Good Samaritans.
As per the guidelines framed by the Centre, Good Samaritans saving lives of road accident victims need not fear harassment by police or any other authorities anymore.
The court has also directed the Centre to publish the guidelines in the media.
The apex court had earlier this month made implementation of these guidelines binding on all states and union territories.
As per the guidelines, any person helping road accident victims will not have any criminal or civil liability.
Further, the guidelines provide for keeping the identity of such persons secret.
