Govt will take positive action on CJI's emotional appeal to PM: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken due cognisance of the plea of Chief Justice of India Tirath Singh Thakur, who urged the Centre to mend the incumbent loopholes in judicial system for efficient results.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken due cognisance of the plea of Chief Justice of India Tirath Singh Thakur, who urged the Centre to mend the incumbent loopholes in judicial system for efficient results.

BJP spokesperson Nlin Kohli toldANI, "When he ( CJI) speaks and raises issues which are important to assure that justice is delivered in a better manner then obviously it has to be taken note of with regard to pendency of cases, infrastructure the requirement of more judges and over all how to make delivery of justice more efficient."

"I think it is equally important to note that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who heads the government, has immediately responded on that occasion and I am sure that in the larger interest of the country something positive will certainly emerge out of this," he added.

Speaking at the annual Chief Ministers and Chief Justices conference earlier in the day, the Chief Justice of India broke down several times while squarely blaming the Centre for stalling appointment of judges to the High Courts.

Thakur during his speech addressed directly at Prime Minister Modi, who was present on the dais, also blamed the Centre of doing nothing to increase the number of courts and judges in the country, thus denying justice to the poor man and under trial prisoners.
