High Court quashes admission of 150 MBBS students in Lucknow

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has cancelled the admission of 150 students to the MBBS course at a private medical college here.

Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has cancelled the admission of 150 students to the MBBS course at a private medical college here.

Taking a grim view of the admission procedure, the court quashed the admissions to the M.C. Saxena Medical College and told its management to pay a compensation of Rs 25 lakh each to the affected students.

The high court on Monday took strong exception to the fact that despite the Medical Council of India (MCI) staying the admissions last year and even the Supreme Court putting a stay on admissions, the management of the medical college went ahead with the fresh admissions.

The bench of Justice D.K. Arora also asked the college management to earmark Rs 37.50 crore for the compensation to the students and give it to the affected students within two months.

The officials of the medical college said they were yet to receive the court order but would abide by it.
