India-Bangladesh DG-level border talks in Dhaka cancelled

Ten people were killed when a small Ranchi-bound BSF Superking aircraft with two pilots and eight technicians on board crashed near Dwarka here shortly after take-off.

New Delhi: The Director General-level talks between India and Bangladesh beginning Tuesday in Dhaka have been cancelled in the wake of Border Security Force (BSF) aircraft 
crash, report said.

Ten people were killed when a small Ranchi-bound BSF Superking aircraft with two pilots and eight technicians on board crashed near Dwarka here shortly after take-off.

The six-day talks were scheduled to be held in Bangladesh capital Dhaka between December 22 and 27. A 20-member BSF delegation was supposed to take part in the talks.

"Issues like trans-border crimes, smuggling of fake Indian currency notes, activities of Indian insurgent groups based in Bangladesh, prevention of illegal migration and trafficking of women and children will be raised in the talks," an official statement said.

The meeting was to deliberate on the coordinated border management plan (CBMP) and various confidence building measures.
