New Delhi: Underworld don and India's most wanted fugitive Dawood Ibrahim is once again in news after latest reports that he has gangrene and is on death bed.
Dawood was on Monday reported to be under treatment at Karachi's Liaquat National Hospital and the Combined Military Hospital for gangrene. However, the reports were rejected by his aide Chhota Shakeel.
Whether true or not, Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar continues to live a lavish life under the watchful eyes of Pakistan's spy agency ISI.
According a report in the Dainik Bhaskar, the Indian security agencies tried to eliminate or arrest Dawood Ibrahim at least six times in the past but failed.
1. Reports say that in 2013, India formed a team of nine men who were supposed to eneter Pakistan and eliminate Dawood. The team, code-named 'Super Boys', was trained by RAW. All of them were provided passports from Bangladesh, Sudan and Nepal. But the plan was abandoned at the last moment due to unkown reasons.
2. In 2011 after Osama Bin Laden's death, India gave all proofs against Dawood to US and declared him an international fugitive. Later in 2013, then Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde handed over proofs to Pakistan. But due to lack of any further efforts, the plan to nab Dawood failed.
3. India missed another chance to nab Dawood Ibrahim in 2005 during his daughter's wedding with former cricketer Javed Miandad's daughter. Reportedly, the plan didn't materialise as intelligence agencies failed to confirm Dawood's presence in the marriage function.
4. In 1994, South African government had handed over information about Dawood's 18 passports to the India. The information was sent to then Prime Minister PV Narsimha Rao but the government ignored the inputs.
5. RAW had once planned the force-landing of Dawood's plane but it also failed miserably.
6. Dawood wanted to surrender in 1994, 15 months after Mumbai serial blast. As claimed by IPS officer Neeraj Kumar and senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani, Dawood had expressed his desire to surrender but with certain conditions, to which then government did not agree.
