Intolerance debate: Rahul slams Modi govt, says 'protest means sedition' in India today

New Delhi: Congress vice president and Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday trained guns at Modi government during a debate on intolerance in Lok Sabha as he listed some examples of alleged intolerance in the country.

"Today in India, protest means sedition," Rahul Gandhi said questioning PM's silence on the killing of three rationalists in Maharashtra.

Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being silent on incidents of intolerance, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday sought union minister VK Singh's removal from the ministry for comparing Dalit children with dogs.

The Congress vice president strongly attacked union minister and former army chief General VK Singh for his comments likening two Dalit children killed in a fire in their home to dogs.

"Gen VK Singh likened Dalit children to dogs but PM allows him to continue as minister as if nothing happened," he said.

Taking part in a debate in the Lok Sabha on intolerance, Gandhi said the prime minister did not speak on incidents such as the lynching of a Muslim man in Uttar Pradesh and the killing of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar in Maharashtra.
