New Delhi: Expressing support towards the call for a reinvestigation into the Ishrat Jahan encounter case, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Shatrughan Sinha on Wednesday said that the 'dubious' role of former home minister P. Chidambaram also needs to be re-examined.
"In the interest of honesty and transparency, the Ishrat Jahan case must be reinvestigated. The alleged dubious role of the then "effective" home minister Chidambaram and all others needs to be re-examined. Those not involved shud have an opportunity to come clean," Sinha said in a series of tweets.
"Reinvestigation kar ke Doodh ka doodh aur paani ka paani hona zarrori hai (Important to separate truth from the lies through reinvestigation)," he added.
Meanwhile, the BJP has demanded a thorough probe into the conduct of Chidambaram and other top Congress leaders following another revelation by a former Home Ministry officer in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case.
Former Under Secretary in the Ministry, RVS Mani claimed that he was pressurized to file the second affidavit in the Supreme Court in which the reference to the LeT terror group naming Ishrat Jahan was dropped.
Earlier, former Home Secretary GK Pillai had also claimed that there was political interference in the case which led to deletion of reference to LeT from the affidavit filed in 2009.
However, the Congress has charged the BJP with spreading false propaganda merely to score political points.
