ISIS wants Kashmir under its caliphate, not Pakistan: NIA chargesheet reveals

New Delhi: The Islamic State terror group wants to establish its caliphate in Kashmir and Pakistan, a media report said on Saturday.

This was revealed after extensive monitoring of web chats of IS members from different countries, including India, by India's National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The Times of India reported that the web chats are part of a chargesheet filed by the NIA against Indian Oil assistant manager Mohammad Sirajuddin, who was arrested for his links with the terror outfit.

In one of the chats, the report said that a person called Jundhulla Minaa, “a UAE-based IS operative who Sirajuddin grew close to,” claimed: "'Kashmir is Kashmir IS... Kashmir will be Islamic State... Inshallah!!'"

According to TOI, “Sirajuddin felt that IS, if it chooses to launch a 'Quest for caliphate' in Kashmir, will have two battle fronts — the 'Indian Kuffar (apostate) Army' and the 'Pakistani Jehadi groups like Lashkare-Taiba, JeM and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen etc' as these outfits will never accept a merger with IS as 'their foundation is based on nationalism and patriotism'".

NIA's chargesheet also mentions that “IS members celebrated the death of VHP neta Ashok Singhal on November 17, 2005, TOI said.

While sharing the news of the death, Sirajuddin commented 'Good News'...," the report added.

Sirajuddin was arrested by NIA in December last year. He even reportedly created a special currency note for the 'IS regime in Kashmir'

According to TOI, the "Rs 20 denomination note says 'IS Welcome in Kashmir'".

It said that these conversations were recovered from his phone by NIA and are part of the chargesheet filed last week.
