New Delhi: The wait is over for lakhs of candidates who have toiled for months to secure admission into the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
The Central Board of Secondary Education announced the result of JEE Mains Result 2016 on cbseresults.nic.in on Wednesday (April 27). Those who clear the Mains will get a chance to appear for the JEE (Advanced) for admission into the IITs.
Based on the All India Rank (AIR) secured by a candidate, he/she will get admission in BE / Engineering / B.Arch / B. Planning courses in NITs/CFTIs / SFIs and many other prestigious institutes.
The AIR will be calculated on the basis of JEE Main 2016 and normalised score in Class 12th.
Separate rank lists will be prepared for admission to BE/BTech and BArch/BPlanning (except in IITs ). This will be declared tentatively in the month of July.IITs ). This will be declared tentatively in the month of July.
The JEE Main score will include marks obtained in the paper 1 ( offline and online )and the name wise list of those who qualify for JEE Advanced 2016.
Candidates need to log in to jeemain.nic.in and then enter their roll number and date of birth in the respective fields to see their results.
Candidates are also advised to download their score card as CBSE will not be dispatching the scorecard to their communication address.
The JEE Main exam 2016 was held on 3rd, 9th, and 10th of April 2016. Those who find a place in the JEE Advanced list will have to start preparing for the all-important exam, scheduled to be held in the month of June 2016.
Incase of a tie in over all marks between two students, the candidate scoring higher marks in Mathematics will be ranked ahead. If two candidates have same over all and mathematics score then rank will be calculated based on the marks obtained in Physics.
Also, candidate scoring higher normalised marks will be given a better grade. And, candidate having the higher absolute value (ratio of positive marks and negative marks) will get a better rank.
If a decision is still not possible, then candidates will be given the same rank.
If two candidates secure the same rank then the candidate who secured higher mark in Aptitude test in paper 2 will be ranked higher.
If two candidates score same marks in the Aptitude test as well then the marks secured in Drawing test in paper 2 will be the criteria for rank calculation.
Also, candidate scoring higher normalised marks will be given a better grade. And, candidate having the higher absolute value (ratio of positive marks and negative marks) will get a better rank.
If a decision is still not possible, then candidates will be given the same rank.
