Lok Sabha Speaker calls Bhagwant Mann video of Parliament security 'serious', hints action is coming

New Delhi: Taking a strong view of Aam Aadmi Party MP Bhagwant Mann's act of posting a video of security arrangements inside Parliament on Facebook, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Friday said the issue is serious and warrants action.

“The issue of Mann's video is serious. Some kind of action should be taken as 13 people had laid down their lives protecting Parliament. I will see to it,” Mahajan said, referring to the December 13, 2001, attack on Parliament.

The strong remarks came after the Speaker summoned the AAP MP over the issue and expressed her displeasure over the act.

The meeting between the Speaker and the AAP MP lasted for about 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, an uproar was witnessed in both Houses over the Parliament security video issue.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned till Monday amid continuing uproar, while the Rajya Sabha also witnessed repeated disruptions.

BJP MP RK Singh said in the Lok Sabha that information about sensitive security positions that can help terrorists facilitate an attack has been provided by Bhagwant Mann through the video.

“Bhagwant Mann said that he will do it again. He must be suspended with immediate effect,” Singh demanded.

Meanwhile, the AAP lawmaker said earlier today that he was ready to apologise if the Speaker asks him to do so.

Mann reiterated that he did not do anything wrong.

In the video, Mann is heard providing a running commentary of his journey to the Parliament building. "I'll today show you something you would not have seen earlier," Mann said at the start of the video.

Inside the Parliament premises, he goes into the room where the process of selection of questions for the Zero Hour is done. As he describes the process, a security official is heard telling him not to take photographs. "I'll not take photo... will maintain confidentiality," Mann says in his reply.

In the video, he says the process is entirely transparent and shows how the lucky draw is carried out to select the questions. At one point, he is also heard saying, "It is going live."
