National Herald case: Shanti Bhushan attacks Gandhis, says taking away shares from patriotic people illegal

New Delhi: Already under fire in National Herald case, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi came under severe criticism from former union minister and activist Shanti Bhushan.

Bhushan said he will challenge the transfer of shares from Associated Journals Ltd (AJL), which ran the National Herald newspaper to Young Indian Limited. Bhushan said  his father had also bought more than 300 shares of AJL in 1938.

"My father had invested in AJL, many other patriotic Indians invested in it," said Shanti Bhushan

"This transfer of control and shares from large number of patriotic people to a family is totally illegal," added Shanti Bhushan.

The Delhi High Court on December 7 had rejected the pleas of Rahul and Sonia Gandhi for quashing the summons against them in the National Herald case.

The court has directed them to appear in person on December 19.
