New Delhi: Various parts of India are on high alert post Pathankot airbase terror attack but it seems still the police machinery is not prepared to handle such attacks.
In a surprising revelation, a fact has come to the fore that out 90,000 Delhi cops only 250 have bulletproof jackets.
According to a report in TOI, half of these 250 jackets are used by personnel posted in the high-security New Delhi district.
Even these 250 jackets are heavy - weighing around 11 kg - making it tough to wear them for hours.
Reportedly, the Delhi Police has now expedited the process to procure enough bulletproof vests for its personnel to tackle a Pathankot-like attacks.
Now, the new ones for commandos are expected to weigh not more than 5kg while for the cops on the streets, the jackets will weigh aroung 1/2kg to 3kg.
Commissioner BS Bassi has asked the procurement department to expedite the process.
