New Delhi: A female law student from Arunachal Pradesh has claimed that she was asked to pay Rs 300 to enter Jama Masjid in New Delhi when others were not charged anything even as Union minister Kiren Rijiju said he would look into the matter.
Niyang Pertin, the law student, posted the video of the incident on a social media website on Friday.
She repeatedly mentioned that the amount she had to cough up was "not the problem" but the "case of discrimination" was. Even an intervention by the police did not deter the masjid authorities from asking for money, she alleged.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju tweeted saying he himself would look into the matter.
Despite Home Ministry taking various steps to stop discriminations against the North-East people this still happened! I will follow it up. pic.twitter.com/0RASlw797T
