Odd-even scheme: 'Motorists complaining about extortion and bribe by AAP volunteers'

New Delhi: BJP and AAP are at loggerheads with each other, yet again! And, this time the bone of contention is Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's ambitious odd-even scheme.

In a major accusation, Delhi BJP's president Satish Upadhyay has said that motorists are complaining about extortion and bribe by AAP volunteers in odd-even scheme.

"Arvind Kejriwal has now institutionalised corruption at grassroot level," Satish Upadhyay has alleged.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Enforcement teams of Delhi government and Delhi Traffic Police had booked as many as 635 motorists for violating the odd-even scheme.

Delhi Traffic Police challaned 217 violators while Transport department and district administration teams booked 418 people for driving odd-numbered vehicles.

A penalty of Rs 2,000 under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act is levied on violators of the road- rationing scheme under which cars with odd and even-numbered license plates ply on alternate days.

April 15, the first day of odd-even second phase had seen a total of 1,311 challans.

The figures came down subsequently as penal action slowed down movement of vehicles leading to congestion.
