New Delhi: As a mark of their disapproval with regard to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetization move, the leaders of the Opposition parties have called for a nationwide bandh today, November 28.

More than a dozen Opposition parties have decided to intensify their campaign against the note ban in the states where they are either in power or have a significant presence.

The Congress, Trinamool Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party stated that they do not wish for a strike, but will hold protests across the country. The Congress has termed it as "Jan Aakrosh Diwas".

The call for the bandh against currency ban was initiated by Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, who will also hold a march in Kolkata at 1:00 pm, while the Aam Aadmi Party will hold a protest at Central Park in New Delhi.

Yesterday, PM Modi called out the Opposition at BJP’s Parivartan rally in UP’s Kushinagar when he asked whether curbing black money and corruption was priority or a staging a nationwide bandh.

Through his ‘PM Modi app’, the Prime Minister asked the nation to rate the government’s move of demonetization as per preference. The results showed that over 93% people across the nation were in support of the currency ban.
